Arts & Crafts Style, Whole Home Renovation 

 

The existing home was built in the 1970's. The floor plan was typical of this period: small rooms, galley-style kitchen and no flow between rooms. Also, typical in this period, there was little or no energy saving elements in the home.

Both, the homeowner and our design-build team agreed the existing home had to be totally renovated to achieve the design and energy savings goals. 

 

Design goals for the project:

 

• Reconfigure the floor plan to be more open including the expansion of the kitchen.

​

• To achieve this design: Interior walls were removed, the ceilings were raised, the stairway was relocated to create an easy flow throughout the home. 

 

• The interior was completely gutted and replaced with all new materials.

​

• The existing exterior was removed and replaced with Arts & Craft-style materials. Extensive work was also done to the roof including raising the roof ridge.

 

New energy-savings mechanicals:

 

• New, state-of-the-art solar system designed to actual store electrical energy and reduce owners electric bills down to almost nothing!

​

• All new low-E argon filled windows, foam insulation, energy-saving metal roof.
